Roles and Responsibilities

You will take up the important role of Senior Trading Associate and will be responsible for duties including:

  • Leading a team of Trading Assistants
  • Developing a deep understanding of CIGP’s operational workflow in order to properly allocate, assist with, support and participate in the daily trading related tasks performed by the team in close collaboration with the Operations department
  • These tasks include but are not limited to:
    • Placing Equity trade orders in Bloomberg’s EMSX platform
    • Checking and authorising Fund trade orders with other Execution Brokers’ proprietary platforms
    • Sending Bond trade orders to specialised Fixed Income Brokers
    • Instructing FX orders onto the firm’s various Custodian Banks’ low touch proprietary execution platforms and high touch execution desks
    • Routing and authorising the above-mentioned trade orders for execution
    • Authorising trade settlement instructions inputted by the Operations team daily
    • Liaising with Relationship Managers and Custodians in the context of Voluntary Corporate Actions
    • Communicating with various Brokers and Custodian Banks in order to ensure the smooth receipt of data reporting that are necessary inputs for some daily/weekly workflows handled by the team
    • Communicating with Clients on various matters such as Order Instructions and Cash Transfer Instructions
    • Continuously looking for areas of improvement with an interest in making processes as efficient as they can be
  • Producing various reports on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis, as required
  • Participating in the opening of new brokerage relationships when and where necessary
  • Maintaining and entertaining existing relationship with the company’s various Execution Brokers as well as regularly reviewing their performance and competitiveness
  • Communicating daily with various internal parties (including but not limited to Front Office, Relationship Managers, Compliance, Accounting), in order to answer ad-hoc requests and solve potential issues on the spot in a timely manner, ensuring a high-quality level of service
  • Working closely with our overseas offices (e.g. Geneva, Dubai, UK) on various projects, as required
  • Actively participating in the improvement and optimisation of the trading execution, booking and settlement workflow as a whole

Skills and Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience working within the front or middle office in a financial institution
  • Previous managerial experience is ideal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Power Point) – an advanced level in Excel modelling, such as VBA, is a plus
  • Pro-active, persistent and able to work with a positive problem solving mind-set
  • A fast learner with a curiosity to understand how things work
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently under tight deadlines
  • A passion for developing a long-term career in Finance, particularly within front/middle office
  • Fluent in English (proficiency in other languages is a plus)
  • An international background (having worked and/or studied abroad) is favoured
