Job Description

Main Purpose of Job:

As an analyst in the Research & Development (Asia) team you will play a key role in the delivery of product support and development, MI and other data analysis, and competitor related investigations.

You will be providing ongoing support to our Partners with queries relating to our products

You will implement updates to Partner tools that are required through regulatory or business changes.  You will also identity opportunities to improve client and Partner experience, and lead in making these changes.

Key Responsibilities of the Job:

Production of bespoke Charge Comparison reports (using our ‘Critical Yield Calculator’) through:

  • Interpretation of third-party product literature;
  • Manual adjustments to formulae in an Excel-based calculator.

Production of charges reports for Partners to use with clients.

Assist with the development and testing of R&D-owned calculators and tools.

Assist with the development of the SJP manufactured product range through supporting projects and providing competitor analysis.

Respond to Partner queries in relation to product terms & conditions (including charges), tools and charge comparison results.

Requirements of the Job:

Job Knowledge:

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required, as this is the main tool that will be used for data analysis and manipulation. Knowledge of VBA is ideal, but not essential.

Some familiarity with other Microsoft packages including Word and PowerPoint is required.

Business Expertise:

Candidates would be expected to have a good general awareness of financial services and financial reporting, but no specific business expertise is required for the role.

Problem Solving:

Problem solving is the key critical skill required for this role. Specifically, a successful candidate will need to be able to gather information from various sources then perform detailed analysis of this information in order to determine a pragmatic and efficient way to produce the final solution.

The role also requires the ability to learn and apply new concepts and analysis methods quickly and accurately.

Nature and Scope of Impact:

This role is within the Research & Development team, but will require frequent written and verbal communication with several other teams to gather and share information. Teams that we often work closely with include the Tax & Technical team, Client Services, Private Clients, and the Error Corrections and Dealing team at our Administration Centre.

The role will also require contact with Partners and their practice staff to respond to queries.

The overall aim of the role is to maintain the high quality of Charge Comparison reports and tools that are shared with Partners and clients, while supporting the ongoing improvements to the manufactured proposition (including Partner and client experience).

Interpersonal Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to gather and exchange information with colleagues in the Research & Development team and in the wider business.

The complexity of the information being exchanged varies from case to case, but can often be very complex in nature. The key challenge when tackling complex cases is to ask relevant, searching questions of the (often incomplete) information that has been provided to ensure that reports produced are accurate.

Strong focus on doing the right thing for the customer and keeping promises made.

Must be comfortable working under pressure and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines.

Special Requirements:

Candidates are expected to have a mathematical/analytical degree. Actuarial understanding desired but not a must.

We Offer:

· Hybrid work arrangement

· 5-days work week

· 21 days annual leave

· Dental, Medical and Life Insurance

· Discretionary bonus

· Career development opportunity

· Inclusive company culture
