The job

  • Assist Head of Life Operations and Life Operations functional leaders, including New Business and Underwriting, Life Administration, Claims and Customer Engagement, in maintaining and enhancing the robustness and internal control from regulatory/risk perspective, covering (but not limited to):
  • 1st line business controls
  • Regulatory compliance and filing
  • Audit findings and management actions (internal, external and regulatory)
  • Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Incident management
  • Business continuity management
  • Data retention and disposal
  • Dashboards and MIS/KPI reporting
  • Data management and analytics
  • Project/Change management and benefit realization
  • Understand regulatory requirements of HKIA (Hong Kong Insurance Authority), AMCM (Monetary Authority of Macao) and BMA (Bermuda Monetary Authority) and provide internal advice for their implications on operations
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business units, IT and vendors to ensure internal systems, procedures and workflows align with group/company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Advise/Assist BAU teams in implementing/ enhancing 1st line controls and ensure they are effective as 1st line of defence
  • Advise/Assist BAU teams in developing mitigation actions and improvement plans based on QA results and incidents
  • Finetune or enhance QA framework to fit business needs when appropriate
  • Represent Life Operations in liaison with departments from 2nd and 3rd lines of defense
  • Ensure KPI reports and dashboards are accurate and timely
  • Analyze and provide business insights for Life Operations using analytics, and develop roadmap via strategic planning
  • Plan, lead and manage projects related to regulatory

The Person

  • Degree holder in Business, and/or related disciplines
  • 10+ years’ experience in life insurance operations.
  • Possess knowledge related to regulatory requirements and risk mitigations
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Good command of both spoken and written and English and Chinese, and a proficient presenter
  • Self-initiation and the drive to implement changes
  • Confidence in managing business stakeholders independently, including senior stakeholders and C-suites
  • Commitment in team work and ability to work under pressure
