Job Description
The Department
The Racing Division represents the core part of the racing industry value chain in Hong Kong covering from importation, training & operations, racing infrastructure, horse welfare, licensing & integrity, talent attraction & development racedays, marketing, post-racing life and equestrian as well as our international involvements. Mainland development is of equal importance with the opening of Conghua Racecourse and the next stage expansion as well as the recent positive policy directions from the national level as well as the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The team works together to lead the way in transforming racing into a vibrant sporting, social and entertainment experience.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, Racing Digitalisation (EMRD),The role of a Senior Business / Process Analyst is critical to a successful business project.
Senior Business / Process Analyst will lead the engagement of business departments to plan & organize organize worokshops to gather, collate and anticipate spoken & unspoken business requirements, uncover areas of improvement and minimize ambiguity.
Moreover, Senior Business / Process Analyst must have skills to effective communicate, engage and influence stakeholders, particularly at a senior level, make recommendations on business initiatives and projects
This role has autonomy and makes decisions that are under their direct control as directed by EMRD. It refers to a Managers’ decisions that require significant change to program outcomes or timeframes or are likely to escalate or require submission to a higher level of management. This role is fully accountable for the delivery of work assignments on time and to expectations in terms of quality, deliverables and outcomes. This role submits reports, business cases and other forms of written advice with minimal input from the manager.
The Job
You will:
- Helps EMRD shape multiple strategic projects from inception. Facilitate communication with IT and advise EMRD on the business backlog to help plan & prioritize the requirements
- Document business requirements scope and help team prioritize features to deliver as early as possible. Scope document remains reference point to ensure the project is delivered to the requirements. Track all changes and maintain up-to-date requirement specifications
- Define & map business processes / workflow that can be simulated and analyzed by the business.
- Obtain a deep understanding of relevant business area(s) to be able to recommend solutions and build high-quality requirements.
- Use a variety of techniques to understand business requirements, such as interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, and storyboards.
- Shape business requirements by making recommendations and suggesting alternatives to proposed solutions.
- Understand technical options, limitations, costs, and risks. Communicate tradeoffs to business partners and work with them to shape requirements accordingly.
- Translate conceptual user requirements into clear, detailed functional requirements.
- Work with business and delivery teams to prioritize requirements
- Help resolve competing priorities between stakeholder groups by facilitating stakeholder discussions, and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Manage requirements scoping throughout the delivery process.
- Create artifacts as appropriate, including business case documentation, scope documentation, and process flows.
- Support delivery teams as they develop, test, and deploy solutions.
- Review delivery team output to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted; define and execute test cases
- Promote a collaborative team environment and provide mentorship to junior-level analysts
- Analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and document current-state processes using process mapping techniques.
- Conduct workshops to understand process flows, pain points, and user needs. Identify and document process gaps, risks, and opportunities for optimization
- Develop change management and training plans.
- Define business user testing scope, develop the test plan and manage User Testing:
User testing signifies the functions is tested and ready to be released - Define and maintain a portfolio management framework for Racing Digitalization, by creating terms of reference, dashboard, reporting, communication flow, Objective Key Results (OKRs) and other required artefact.
- Track and report all the Racing Division (IT and non-IT) development initiatives through the Racing portfolio management framework, to ensure that the divisional roadmap is delivered within agreed timeframes and budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Racing and the Club, organize and support initiative-related governance meetings and prepare/co-ordinate required meeting document.
- Prepare ad-hoc and regular analyses and presentation material at divisional level.
- Capture, report, track and manage to closure of initiative-related risks at divisional level.
- Define and maintain an Operational Process framework for Racing.
- Review, improve, and streamline, business processes, standard operation procedures (SOP) and communication flows for Racing.
- Undertake other duties or projects as assigned by Line Manager.
About You
You should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of combined experience in business analysis including process & data analysis
- Proven at experience as a Senior Business Analyst or in a similar leadership role.
- Proficient in requirements gathering and documentation techniques
- Familiar with system development life cycle, change management and project management activities
- A tech background to understand and track challenges and help to facilitate and resolve will be a plus
- Strong business acumen and numerical sense
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Chinese.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.
Terms of employment
