Job Posting Details
The appointee will work in the Monographs Team of the Library’s Resource Management section and will be responsible for performing procurement and managing metadata for print and e-book related services and activities. Major duties of the appointee include sourcing, ordering, processing payments, receiving and generating claims, routine maintenance of electronic resources, descriptive cataloging, and record maintenance and withdrawals. The appointee is also expected to acquire materials, communicate with vendors, prepare e-book usage statistics, perform shift counter duties, and provide support to various library activities as assigned.
Applicants should have at least 5 passes including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A or level 2 if results were obtained from 2007 onwards) and Chinese in the HKCEE; or 5 subjects, including English Language and Chinese Language, attaining level 2 or above (or equivalent) in the HKDSE, plus at least 1 year of post-qualification work experience, preferably in a university library setting. The ideal candidates should have working knowledge of MS Office applications, proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese and English as well as Chinese word processing, and strong analytical skills. They should also be self-motivated, attentive to details and able to work in a team. Preference would be given to candidates who have knowledge of and experience with an Integrated Library System and billing practices of publishers and vendors; and an understanding of MARC and Library of Congress classification. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
