Job Description
NES Fircroft are working with a well-known international business, active in the consulting and construction engineering industry.
As a business they have a large global footprint, designing and operating critical infrastructure and commercial buildings.
Due to expansion and numerous key projects awarded, they are looking to hire an experienced MEP Executive Director level candidate, based in Hong Kong to oversee their diverse and technically gifted business.
This person will be responsible for leading the service line's activities within a specific region, aligned to the Global Business strategic plan delivered through their regional network.
This includes development and implementation of the strategy within a region as well as full P&L responsibility including Order Intake Targets, and service line project profitability.
The scope to be addressed is the Mechanical and Electrical engineering business, with a main focus on the Hong-Kong local market and some openings to the rest of Asia market.
Therefore, suitable candidates must have experience overseeing MEP operations within Hong Kong, with proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin being highly desirable.
Responsibilities;
• Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives
• Govern the business results, reaching the desired levels of Order Intake, Revenue and EBITDA
• Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission
• Own the company’s P&L and overview internal costs and budgets;
• Make high-quality investing decisions to advance the business and increase profits
• Build and develop a solid and successful group of managers
• Maintain a high-level networking activity with private, private and institutional stakeholders
• Seek for business opportunities and risk reduction proactively and maintain a deep knowledge of the markets and industry of the company Vision and Leadership
• Establish and maintain effective region business line organizational structure and skill base to meet the needs of the business line grouping in the short and longer term Sustainable Development
• Ensure that that Sustainability, Environment and Quality are the responsibility of all employees
• Demonstrate effective innovation leadership at all times to enhance the organisation’s commitment to sustainable performance Financial Performance
• Responsible for maximizing financial results of the service line within the region including profit and loss, fixed assets, capital expenditure and receivables
• Responsible for executing and ensuring effective delivery of operational and budgetary objectives.
• Establish PL forecast revenues and profits in accordance with prescribed guidelines and ensure effective teamwork to meet or exceed targets
• Complete commercial evaluations and pricing recommendations to the organization with regards to the business line’s services
Requirements and qualifications;
This role is expected to actively support primarily local (Hong-Kong) and Asia business growth needs.
• Degree and post graduate degree in mechanical, electrical and/or building services engineering
• Professional membership to one or more of the following: MHKIE, MIMechE, MIET, MCIBSE
• At least 20 years' post-chartered experience with more than 10 years’ experience in managing teams
• Experience in managing P&L on engineering business
• Proven technical design capabilities in MEP division
• Track record of delivering large scale HK assignments
• Excellent understanding of HK construction regulation and legislation
• Familiar with the government submission procedures and quasi-government submission procedures (Housing Authority, Hospital Authority, Airport Authority, MTRC…)
• Proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is highly desirable
• Capacity to work in a matrix organization
• Skill in examining tenders, market conditions and operational requirements.
• Experience in sales and marketing
• Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
• Ability to prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
• Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and clients.
• Work effectively across a diverse multicultural, multilingual community
• Interactive client presentations, commercial road shows, speaking at conferences and events to promote the companies services
