Job Description
Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of Procurement Operations and Development
Department: Procurement & Aircraft Trading
We are looking for people who are passionate about ESG matters and want to drive positive change for Cathay and its suppliers. Cathay believes that its customers are best served by creating sustainable partnerships and value-added collaborations. This mission forms an integral part of our business and services, allowing the company to maintain productive relationships with over 10,000 suppliers globally, whilst adhering to high safety standards, regulatory requirements and corporate governance policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible to reduce the environmental impact of our suppliers and to promote responsible sourcing and ethical business practices throughout our supply chain.
- Develop a policy that clearly outlines the company's ESG objectives and expectations for suppliers, and the process for monitoring and evaluating supplier performance.
- Develop a rolling multi-year plan for continuous engagement and capacity building of key/high-risk suppliers.
- Enable the company to identify and manage third party risks and opportunities related to sustainability and corporate responsibility, aligned with Cathay's values and goals.
- Set up a framework that drives innovation and collaboration, encouraging suppliers to develop new products and/or services, and to drive ESG improvements.
- Plan and execute supplier ESG engagement and capacity building activities, including best practice sharing between suppliers, and support and resources to help suppliers meet ESG expectations.
- Engage in dialogues with third parties, including government bodies and professional institutions on ESG matters.
- Provide expert advice on supply chain sustainability to business units and other internal stakeholders (Group Corporate Risk, Group Sustainable Development, Legal & Compliance, etc) and integrates an expanding range of requirements in the Supply Chain ESG strategy.
- Work with functional category owners to drive key ESG initiatives in the supply base and develops performance metrics to track the success of Cathay’s ESG Supplier Engagement and Procurement efforts.
- Train and Educate Procurement staff on ESG policies & procedures and offers ongoing support to ensure ESG considerations are consistently integrated into decision-making.
- Establish internal stakeholder and key supplier development, guidelines, training and mentoring programs to educate on ESG processes and requirements.
- Reinforce and strengthen the ESG culture at every opportunity with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and develop supply chain ESG performance analysis, reporting and dashboards for internal stakeholders and supports public disclosure requirements.
- Support upstream sustainability impact and Scope 3 impact mapping for corporate reporting.
- Prepare and present Supply Chain ESG updates to senior management.
Requirements
- At least 10+ years work experience in the development and implementation of supplier ESG policies and programs
- Knowledgeable in strategic sourcing and vendor management
- Knowledgeable in supply chain ESG and risk database
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills with a ‘hands-on’ mentality
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices
- Excellent people skills; ability to inspire, build trust and influence internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to define and implement strategies
- Analytical and presentation skills
- Approachable and decisive
- Fluent in English
