My client is a regional specialist workplace design business is seeking an Assistant Design Director with an architecture/design background and commercial interiors experience to take project responsibility and manage design activity within their Hong Kong studio.

Reporting directly to the MD, you will create fit out design solutions in line with the project design brief, taking into account bespoke offsite manufacturing systems. You will be responsible for managing the fit-out designers, working collaboratively to produce drawings and design work. A workplace background is essential in this role and experience working with major corporate clients would be beneficial. 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Be competent and experienced in AutoCAD and Fit Out design.
• Understand the clients / architects design brief, specification and drawings.
• Organise and chair design meetings with the client, architect, site team and suppliers.
• Be capable and competent in dealing directly with the Project Architect and Principle Contractor.
• Be competent in coordinating our drawings with other trade contractors drawings and be comfortable dealing with other trade contractors direct.
• Manage the design process through to the point of publication of assigned A Status drawings.
• Manage the drawing administration process and be competent with design filing protocol systems 
• Manage and track the design process.
• Be actively involved in the sampling process including the production of the samples sign off.
• Be familiar in working with and finding information from the architects specification documents.
• Co-ordinate sub-contractor and supply drawings.
• Manage the supply chain design / drawing process.
• Assist with the procurement of bespoke designed materials and play an active part in the order enquiry process, solely from a design process.
• Be up-to-date with current fit out products and be familiar with the supply chain.
• Liaise and work closely with the Commercial Manager in understanding what financial allowances have been made for the projects and have an awareness of financial restraints when progressing with design.
• Liaise and work closely and build strong relationships with our Project Site Management teams and assist them in the project delivery.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design or related disciplines 
• Solid experience with corporate workplace/ office projects 
• Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills, self-motivated and a team player with strong leadership skills
• Proficient in English; Cantonese/ Mandarin would be an advantage
