Job Description
Reports To: Deputy Simulator Training Manager
Department: Flight Operations (FOP)
To support the Simulator Training Manager and Deputy Simulator Training Manager in the effective utilization of Simulator Training resources while abiding by the Regulatory and Training Management guidelines for Cathay Pacific Airways and for the Cathay Pacific Approved Training Organisation.
To assist in ongoing logistical and administrative needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage Simulator Instructors with regard to their logistical requirements and supporting liaison where required for GBS, People Dept, and IT staff insofar as their support of our training organization as approved by the STM and DSTM.
- Supporting, advising and informing staff with respect to individuals' responsibilities.
- Ensuring that all personnel matters are administered as per Company policy and interest concerning:
- Terms of Reference;
- Standards and discipline;
- Human resource management;
- Annual appraisal;
- Appointments, promotions and dismissals.
- Maintain familiarity with Simulator Instructor roles through observation as determined by the STM.
- Assist in coordinating with trainees returning from external ATOs when requested by STM/DSTM.
- Act as coordinator for CA ATO client’s simulator and IPT/APT needs.
- Assist with CX ATO billing and cost evaluations when requested by STM/DSTM.
- Assist the STM and DSTM when required for courseware development, implementation and/or modifications. Ensure courseware compliance with HKCAD, ISARPS and Company requirements for Simulator Training.
- Format courseware to meet training requirements in the approved format for simulator use. Ensure satisfactory training aids/documentation are provided as needed for simulator training.
- Assist STM/DSTM to draft and administer amendments to the relevant Simulator sections of OM part, PPM, and other regulatory/company documentation.
- Ensuring STM is apprised of issues relevant to the Simulator Training Section.
- Assist STM/DSTM with the onboarding processes of new Simulator Instructors.
- Managing the development and implementation of Simulator Training policies and functions to comply with Company fleet specific Operations Manuals as directed by STM
- Ensuring section policies and plans are implemented to attain safe, economical and effective Training and coordination.
- Support the Chief Synthetic Flight Instructor under the CPA ATO - TR and monitor the activities for compliance with CAD 34 Simulator Training Requirements.
- Deputize for DSTM in his/her absence.
- Utilization of Full Flight Simulators and Flight Training devices;
- Coordinate training and utilization of instructional staff;
- Section development and manpower planning to meet future change;
- Departmental communication, both internal and external;
- Selection of new simulators and training equipment.
- Liaising with Flying Training Managers and Training Development Managers to support standardisation across the fleets to operate under the same common policy and procedures.
- Make respective Simulator Training (Fleet) inputs to the appropriate cost centre budget.
- Provide oversight of regulatory compliance regarding Simulator Instructor qualifications as outlined in OM-D Flying Training.
- Review and support rostering and Airline Planning to coordinate effective use of personnel and training devices to ensure sustained long term productivity and staffing levels as well as to prepare monthly Simulator Training rosters, monitor Simulator Instructor Leave, O days and approve Route Familiarization Flights/Duty Travel expenses.
- Assist with development of strategies to ensure effective and efficient utilization of Simulator Instructors, Flight Training devices and Simulators.
- Attending Cathay Pacific Airways Limited operational and training meetings or seminars as appropriate. Compose and file meeting minutes when required.
- Allocate project work to subordinates as required.
- Preserve confidentiality of company information.
- Conduct special projects as required.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Should understand Cathay Flight Training programmes.
- Should understand the CAD regulatory documentation, ISARPs and company operating manual requirements applicable to Simulator Training for Cathay.
Skills
- Must be able to communicate well in both written and verbal formats to all required audiences.
- Must be flexible and adaptable in dealing with and applying Company required tasks
- Must be committed to excellence in training.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Should demonstrate a high level of training knowledge and skills.
- Should have a working knowledge of basic iPad functionality.
Experience
- Should have experience or background working within an airline/aviation training management or large company/corporation.
- Should have experience in providing training.
- Should have a background in instructional design or lesson plan development
