Job Description

The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes.  The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations. 

 

You will be responsible for:

  • coordinating school visit bookings and day-to-day operations. Duties include: handling online applications and school enquiries, contacting teachers/schools, scheduling visits, processing payments, providing on-site support to school groups during the visits;  
  • communicating and coordinating with internal teams, docents and volunteers to ensure the visit programme is delivered within the required standards and timeline;
  • developing innovative learning materials and resources related to the school visit programme and museum exhibitions;
  • building a strong network with schools, teachers, and other key stakeholders in the field;
  • supporting the planning and implementation of school visit programme and other museum learning programmes;
  • providing administrative support to the Learning and Engagement team and event support for school engagement and teacher professional development activities;
  • performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor when deemed necessary; and
  • occasional weekend duties or shift duties for learning activities may be required.

 

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree, preferably in museum studies, humanities, social science, education, communications, history or other relevant disciplines;
  • preferably, with at least 1 year, or more, of work experience of coordinating school, youth, arts or cultural projects; fresh graduates are welcome;
  • possess strong organisation skills, with attention to detail;
  • possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; passionate about interacting with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to resolve issues timely and wisely;
  • be self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively with other team members in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • strong computer skills; familiar with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • have good oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese; knowledge of Putonghua is an advantage; and
  • have basic knowledge of museum learning and Hong Kong school curriculum, which, although not mandatory, will be advantageous.
