Job Description
Company Background
Established in January 2020, the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) is a statutory regulatory body established under the Travel Industry Ordinance (Cap. 634) (Ordinance). It is primarily responsible for the licensing and regulation of TA, TG and TE. TIA is also responsible for promoting the integrity, competence and professionalism of the travel industry practitioners and regulating shops that inbound tour groups are arranged to patronise. In addition, it is responsible for managing the Travel Industry Compensation Fund which provides protection for outbound travellers purchasing outbound packages.
Members of TIA are appointed by the Chief Executive in accordance with the Ordinance. TIA is to consist of the Chairman, the Vice-chairman (the Commissioner for Tourism) and not more than 28 ordinary members from various sectors of Hong Kong.
With the implementation of the new regulatory regime under the Ordinance, TIA takes over the regulatory and licensing functions from the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and former Travel Agents Registry.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the incumbent will assume the following:
- Supervise the Corporate Communications Section;
- Assist in developing corporate communications strategies and initiatives to support the Travel Industry Authority (“TIA”) vision and objectives;
- Implement TIA strategies, create and execute integrated corporate communications programmes to enhance the image of TIA;
- Maintain strong working relationships with trade media, handle media enquiries, press release, interviews and other related matters;
- Plan and implement corporate events and activities, and coordinate corporate visits;
- Oversee the content development and production of corporate communications materials, including videos, brochures, newsletters and annual report;
- Manage and develop content for corporate website and social media platforms;
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote the value of TIA; and
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
Requirement:
- Holder of a university degree with no less than 8 years of work experience, of which no less 3 years is at manager level or equivalent;
- No less than 5 years of relevant experience in corporate communications and/or public and media relations;
- Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including fluency in Putonghua;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional sections and stakeholders;
- Responsible and a strong news sense;
- Self-motivated, mature and able to work independently in a fast environment; and
- Experience in the travel industry would be an advantage.
