Director / Assistant Director of Product & Trading (Precious Metals Trading)

The Director / Assistant Director of Product & Trading is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing the Product & Trading Department. This position involves strategic oversight of product procurement, trading activities, financial and inventory management, and the development and implementation of systems and processes to enhance departmental efficiency and performance. The Director / Assistant Director will play a crucial role in setting and achieving KPIs, enhancing customer and supplier relationships, and ensuring the seamless integration of product and trading strategies with company-wide objectives.

Role & Function:-

1/ Leadership & team management:

  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports, fostering an environment of growth and excellence.
  • Establish and monitor clear KPIs for both departmental objectives and individual performance, including semi-annual goal setting and performance appraisals.
  • Represent the Product & Trading team effectively in cross-departmental meetings, ensuring collaborative project involvement and task execution.

 

2/ Systems and processes development: 

  • Spearhead the creation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical and repetitive tasks, especially those with significant financial implications.
  • Collaborate closely with the Technology Department to prioritize system enhancements and bug fixes, thereby boosting departmental output and efficiency, focusing on enhancements that strengthen the company's value proposition.

 

3/ Financial & Inventory Management:

  • Achieve key financial and inventory KPIs, including Inventory Turns, Aged Inventory, and Product and Channel Margins.
  • Oversee inventory management across all sales channels, ensuring optimal allocation and sell-through strategies.
  • Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to track financial contributions and performance against KPIs transparently.

 

4/ Product Procurement:

  • Meet or exceed targets for SKU variety and exclusivity of LPM offerings.
  • Manage the Pre-Order/Expression of Interest (EOI) process to ensure market responsiveness, targeted offerings, and achievement of program KPIs.
  • Strategize to secure and increase allocations for key product releases.

 

5/ Pricing & Hedging:

  • Achieve Product Margin KPIs across various channels and product categories.
  • Implement a dynamic pricing strategy that adapts to market conditions, demand, and company needs, including clearance sales and cash flow considerations.
  • Ensure adherence to established hedging processes to mitigate financial risk.

 

6/ Customer & supplier relationship management: 

  • Attain high customer satisfaction KPIs.
  • Lead the strategy for new customer acquisition and meet defined KPIs for new customer growth.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and deals to optimize terms and benefits for the company.

 

7/ Service delivery:

  • Work in partnership with the Business Operations & Customer Experience departments to establish industry-leading customer service and logistics operations.
  • Drive initiatives to improve service delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

 

8/ Marketing:

  • Develop and execute a targeted CRM marketing plan for wholesale customers, utilizing email, WhatsApp, and website channels for direct engagement.
  • Oversee the creation and management of a product calendar/roadmap, aligning product introductions and promotions with marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to ensure cohesive marketing efforts that support product sales and brand objectives.


Qualifications & Experience:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management, trading, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and meet financial targets.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling to inform decision-making.
  • Experience in precious metals or related industries is highly advantageous.
