Job Description
The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
Job Description
You will be responsible for:
- assisting the Museum’s Exhibition Planning and Management Team to plan and implement the pre-opening phase preparation and administrative work for exhibition projects;
- working with the Team to manage all tasks leading to the timely and successful opening of the exhibitions in planning, including vetting and drafting of exhibition contracts; managing exhibit lists; creating/managing shipping, packing / crating, installation and deinstallation schedules; obtaining and communicating display requirements and security provisions; making arrangement for couriers’ accommodation, per diem; preparing all documents for art insurance and customs formalities;
- assisting the Team in organising and documenting exhibition planning meetings as necessary to ensure good information flow and smooth delivery of each exhibition; and
- handling other projects and tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree in arts management, museum studies, art history, arts administration or other relevant disciplines;
- preferably have 3 years of experience in exhibition planning, management, and implementation or comparable project management experience gained in other fields;
- have solid project management experience in domestic and international exhibitions or other comparable projects;
- have outstanding ability and proactive attitude to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple complex projects concurrently;
- have excellent organisational and diplomatic skills, as well as team management skills when working with large teams with diversified perspectives and cultural background;
- possess strong computer and imaging skills, such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Acrobat, and project management softwares; and
- possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese; knowledge of Cantonese and Putonghua is an advantage.
