Project Associate (Full-time/Part-time) / Project Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) 

GRADUATE SCHOOL

[Appointment period: each for seven months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointees will work as a Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist in the project - “PolyU GS data hub” and other related projects.  They will be required to:

(a) prepare, organise, and maintain all forms of documentation associated with the projects, including requirement documentation, technical guides, user manuals, and any other project-related materials;

(b) work closely with the development, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure accuracy and clarity in all documents;

(c) collaborate with project managers and technical teams to gather information on project requirements and objectives;

(d) maintain comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards, including requirement specifications, technical manuals, user guides, and other project deliverables;

(e) translate complex product information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand content for various groups of audience including laypersons;

(f) standardize and amend materials prepared by other writers or project team members;

(g) maintain and catalog a library of application documentation for internal and external use;

(h) update and revise documentation as needed during implementation;

(i) prepare tutorial and other instructional materials to help end-users utilize products and services effectively; and

(j) participate in project planning sessions to understand documentation requirements and timelines.

Qualifications

For the post of Project Associate, applicants should have a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Business, or a related field with three years of related experience at the time of application.

For the post of Project Assistant, applicants should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Business, or a related field or an equivalent qualification.

Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience are welcome.

For both posts, applicants should also have:

(a) proven experience as a Technical Writer or similar role, preferably in the IT industry.

(b) excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation.

(c) strong attention to detail and ability to grasp complex technical concepts.

(d) proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and any relevant technical writing software.

(e) the ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.

(f) familiarity with the software development lifecycle and basic coding/scripting knowledge being an advantage; and

(g) the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese;

Preference will be given to those with work experience in an agile team or experience in Big Data and/or blockchain technologies.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. 

For part-time appointment, the remuneration rates are HK$173 per hour for the post of Project Associate and HK$122 per hour for the post of Project Assistant.
