About Makerbay Foundation
Makerbay Foundation (https://makerbay.net/) is a non-profit organisation to achieve positive social and environmental impact through maker education and impact innovation. We nurture youth to develop maker skills and mindset to tackle the needs of our society. Our makerspaces offer all the machinery and tools for woodwork, metalwork, textile, laser cutting, 3D printing, electronics, etc. Everyone in our space can apply their practical skills to tackle real-world challenges.

As Program Officer, you willl

  • Facilitate daily operations within the center
  • Support the planning and implementation of educational and training programs
  • Implement new concepts that contribute to societal and environmental well-being
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Project Manager related to training and education

As Makerbay Staff, you should

  • Constructively GIVE and politely TAKE ideas among team members during weekly meetings
  • Ensure our programs are enhanced periodically
  • Maintain Makerbay facilities and equipment

Basic requirements:

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
  • A background in social science, social design, product design, engineering, or related fields is preferred
  • Knowledge of social innovation, design thinking, or any maker skills (such as 3D printing, Laser cutting, Electronics, Woodwork, etc.) is an advantage
  • A desire to learn and a readiness to experiment are essential

Soft skills required:

  • Enjoy working with people - you will work with them a lot!
  • Teamwork - you will work with members within MakerBay and many other external partners
  • Adaptive and flexible - you will work with different stakeholders
  • Observative - aware of the needs of the community

Working hours and location:

  • Working hours: Five-day work week 10:00 - 18:00 (include a one-hour lunch break; evening and weekend shifts may happen depending on program needs)
  • Locations: Mainly at Makerbay HQ at Tsuen Wan, occasionally on partners’ or clients’ sites
  • One day per week work-from-home arrangement (after probation)
