Job Description
Greenpeace (GP) is a non-governmental global campaigning network, which uses peaceful, creative actions to expose global environmental issues, and develop solutions for a green and peaceful future.
Job summary :
Greenpeace East Asia is hiring a Communication Manager. The successful candidate will lead strategic campaigns, manage media relations, and inspire teams to shape impactful efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership: Direct and oversee the planning, development, and execution of campaign communications, shaping Greenpeace’s long-term organisational strategy.
Trend Analysis: Monitor communication trends in traditional and online media, identifying opportunities to adapt and enhance Greenpeace’s impact.
Project Guidance: Propose and guide projects aligned with campaign strategies, offering expert knowledge for their development and implementation.
Team Leadership: Inspire and manage the communications team, fostering innovation and ensuring strategic alignment with internal and external trends.
Media Relations: Undertake proactive and reactive media work, building strong relationships with media and influencers to boost Greenpeace’s profile and credibility.
Training and Compliance: Organise training, manage creative assets, and ensure adherence to communication protocols and budgetary guidelines, maintaining Greenpeace’s integrity as an authoritative environmental voice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree in Journalism and/or Communication, or a similar major with substantial experience, is also considered.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in journalism within the media industry or NGO communications.
- Excellent proficiency in written Chinese and fluency in written and spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated expertise and a successful track record in obtaining media exposure, establishing influential partnerships, and leading a team toward innovation while supporting campaign and organizational objectives.
- Commitment to and demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
- Commitment to the mission, principles and values of Greenpeace.
