Job Description

 

We are seeking a talented General Purpose Sorting Engineer with extensive experience in the selection and integration of computer vision and Near-Infrared (NIR) sensors for advanced sorting solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing computer vision-powered NIR-based systems to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of material identification and sorting across a wide range of industries.

 

What you'll do:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on the latest advancements in computer vision and NIR spectroscopy sensors for material recognition and classification.
  • Evaluate and select the most appropriate computer vision and NIR sensor technologies based on the specific requirements of each sorting application, considering factors such as resolution, sensitivity, cost, and integration requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for integrating computer vision and NIR-based sorting systems into various industrial operations.
  • Design, develop, and optimize computer vision models and algorithms for accurate identification, classification, and sorting of diverse materials using data from the selected NIR and computer vision sensors.
  • Oversee the implementation, testing, and deployment of computer vision-driven NIR-based sorting solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and the selected sensor technologies.
  • Analyze data collected from the deployed NIR and computer vision sensors to continuously improve the performance and accuracy of material identification and sorting.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in computer vision, machine learning, and NIR sensor technologies, and recommend strategies to adapt and stay ahead of the curve.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to operators and maintenance personnel on the effective use and maintenance of computer vision-powered NIR-based sorting systems and their associated sensors.
  • Contribute to the development of new sorting and processing methods that leverage the capabilities of computer vision and NIR sensor technologies.
  • Collaborate with research institutions, industry partners, and regulatory bodies to drive innovation and shape the future of sustainable, efficient, and automated sorting solutions


You'll be a good fit if you have/are:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science), Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience working with computer vision and NIR sensor technologies in industrial sorting and processing applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the evaluation, selection, and integration of computer vision and NIR sensors for diverse material identification and sorting needs.
  • Strong understanding of material composition, properties, and sorting requirements across a wide range of industries.
  • Proficiency in developing, training, and deploying computer vision models for material identification and sorting using data from NIR and other sensors.
  • Expertise in image processing, feature extraction, and deep learning techniques.
  • Experience in data acquisition, preprocessing, and model optimization utilizing sensor-generated data.
  • Knowledge of project management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and technical communication skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and sustainability initiatives
