Job Description
The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)
You will be responsible for:
- supporting the development and implementation of learning programmes, including but not limited to internships, lectures, hands-on workshops, educational resources, school group visits, and outreach, for a wide range of audiences;
- conducing research for content development, preparing proposals and reports, and conducting audience research and participant evaluation;
- communicating and coordinating effectively with all levels in and out of the organisation, including schools, vendors, collaborators and other key stakeholders ensure programmes are delivered within the required standards, budget and timeline; and
- performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor when deemed necessary.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree, preferably in education, communications, humanities, museum studies, arts, history, cultural management, social sciences or other equivalent disciplines;
- preferably, have 2 years, or more, of work experience of coordinating engagement projects and events with diverse responsibilities in project management and operations in cultural or educational sectors;
- demonstrate a collaborative mindset and ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds;
- be self-motivated, organised, and possess strong content development and problem-solving skills;
- be available and willing to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, for events if necessary;
- possess a good understanding of new technologies, including online and on-site digital platforms that facilitate discovery and learning of the Museum’s offerings; and
- possess proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese; knowledge of Putonghua will be an advantage.
