Job Title:          Assistant Finance Manager

Job Posting Details

The Finance Office is one of the crucial administrative functions providing best-practice financial management services to support the University’s mission in teaching, research and social-economic development of Hong Kong.

The appointee will report to and assist the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Manager to lead and supervise the payroll operation. The appointee will contribute to the development of high-quality financial support services and adoption of best practice processes. The responsibilities include:

  1. Handling payment of regular and temporary staff payroll and benefits;
  2. Ensuring compliance with the University's polices and external regulatory requirements;
  3. Managing, reviewing, and improving the payroll process and policies for operational excellence;
  4. Preparing payroll-related reports and conducting analyses to support management decisions;
  5. Actively participating in and supporting process re-engineering projects, new system implementation; and conducting user acceptance tests; 
  6. Updating the policy and procedure manual; and 
  7. Performing any other duties as assigned.

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree.  A professional qualification in accounting bodies such as HKICPA/ACCA is preferred. The appointee should have substantial accounting experience of which at least 3 years are at a managerial level, comprising strong analytical and technical skills.  Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, good communication skills and a detail-oriented, responsible and self-motivated mindset are required.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and hands-on experience in payroll and ERP system would be an advantage. Relevant working experience in payroll functions and/or large organizations is preferred. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
