Responsible for providing network services and planning of voice services

 Job Responsibilities: 

  • Discuss with different BUs (e.g. PCCW, PCCW Mobile, PCCWG Wholesale Voice, etc) and major customers to understand their requirements and suggest solutions, e.g. determine on which platform the solution should be implemented, comparison on the pros and cons for each solution, etc.
  • Convert user’s functional requirements into technical specification and discuss with vendors for solutions.
  • Prepare technical specification or Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Information (RFI) to suppliers and prepare technical analysis, cost analysis and recommendation on major projects for senior management approval
  • Participate in technical discussion with suppliers to clarify our requirements and supplier’s queries.
  • Monitoring the solution delivery schedule, preparation & execution of acceptance test plan, implementation plan and migration plan.
  • Discuss and review test plan for hardware / software and application upgrade with vendors and internal departments, coordinate resources for the execution of test plan and review results in order to determine if the upgrade will be implemented in the live system
  • Prepare implementation guidelines for new services to operation groups
  • Maintain regular contact with different vendors and market awareness in order to keep track of the trend of the latest technology and services 
  • Assist supervisor to prepare the AOP at the end of each year and exercise budget control to make sure that the expenditure falls within the budget.
  • Identify critical components and provision resilient plans to guarantee the service continuity
  • Perform voice Network engineering, planning and capacity dimensioning
  •  Discuss with other parties such as ISP/MPLS provider and internal IT department regarding the network connectivity issues of our voice equipment/sites

 

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Minimum qualification of a Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline but a Master Degree in related discipline is definitely an advantage
  • Minimum 20 years relevant working experience in telecom industry with minimum 10 years of working experience in telecom operator company and minimum 5 years in managerial position 
  • Certification of CCNA/CCNP and good knowledge of Cisco equipment like catalyst switches, firewall and routers.
  • Good knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud 
  • Proven track record in deployment and/or development of telecom voice services in particular international voice services, (e.g. IDD and ITFS) and number portability, 
  • Strong technical skill sets in network planning, network monitoring and equipment dimensioning for VOIP network
  • Familiar with different protocols, e.g. SIP, SIP-I, IPSec, TLS, ENUM, IP, etc. as well as class 4 switches are mandatory
  • Familiar with Oracle Session Border Controller/Session Router, Least Cost Routing, server installation and server-side scripting
  • Team orientated person, with a focus on international telecom business. Candidate must be prepared to work irregular hours, having meetings with Europe and Americas regions in order to support these business units
  • Good command in oral and written English, with strong inter-group action and communication skills with different international groups
  • Experience in managing overseas carriers, key customer accounts, solid documentation and presentation techniques
