Job Description
Senior AV Officer

Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), a non-profit making school wholly owned by the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications for the position of Senior AV Officer.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Senior AV Officer has a vital role in managing the AV department with a primary focus on the AV facilities in the school. Provides support for internal school events and activities as well as appropriate support for external events, with responsibilities that include the following:
Job duties:
- Strategic Planning
- Contribute to vision setting and long-term goals for the AV department, aligning with the strategic goals of the school
- Contribute to development of medium-term development projects, including research and development and testing / piloting of potential areas for significant growth
- Contribute to short-term development goals including anticipation of growth needs and annual purchasing and professional development goals
- Develop clear policies and procedures to facilitate the smooth running of all AV processes
- Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the AV team
- Develop an attitude of service to the school community
- Lead the appraisal and growth & development processes for AV team members
- Budgeting & Asset Management
- Manage the purchasing of new AV equipment. Includes communicating with vendors for quotations and engaging with the procurement team to complete purchases in alignment with school purchasing procedures and guidelines
- Develop an annual budget specifically for audio-visual equipment and services
- Maintain an accurate register of resources and equipment, including a maintenance and replacement schedule
- Teaching & Learning
- Promote the Student Tech Team and engage with students to serve in this role
- Plan and lead a learning programme for students for AV and stagecraft in “Tech Team”
- Coach and supervise the Tech Team student group that assists with school events
- Event Support & Management
- Provide AV support for school events such as chapels/assemblies, back to school night, carnival, camp, concerts, etc. This includes ad hoc events that may require hours outside of normal reporting times
- Coordinate the setting up and packing up AV equipment needed for school events
- Communicate with other teams regarding external bookings and arrange support from the AV vendor, where appropriate
- Take event requests and insert them into the facilities booking system
- Communicate event details obtained from the event requester to teams such as facility management. This can include obtaining details such as what equipment is needed and organizing when and who will move it.
- Liaise with teams to support school activities across the campus, as requested
- Performance Hall Support & Management
- Monitor the internal bookings and support requests for the Performance Hall and provide frontline support for school activities in the performance hall, including communicating and liaising with other staff and teams
- Manage lighting and audio production and support, including ongoing training of technicians and oversight of Student Tech Teams working in the performance hall
- Produce training materials, safety protocols and procedural guidelines for use of technical equipment in the performance hall
- Media Development
- Film and edit videos for different parties (Advancement, Admissions, Senior Leadership Team, Human Resources)
- Develop media for digital signage around the campus
- Maintenance & Resource Management
- Troubleshoot issues with AV equipment and provide just-in-time support where needed
- Maintain repair and maintenance information in the AV inventory.
- Contact the relevant AV contractors for routine maintenance and repairs
- Community & School Development
- Be actively involved in the corporate life of the school and contribute to building community
- Promote and adhere to the values and Christian ethos of the school
- Support the day-to-day running of the school
- Fulfill ad hoc tasks from time to time as directed by Head of School
Job Requirements:
- Diploma qualification or above in related discipline
- Experience in digital lighting & digital audio management, production / event management & support, and leading & training technical teams
- Experience in large event management (e.g. concert or theatre production) preferred
- Experience in using ProTools for recording and audio production preferred
- Strong analytical skill, good interpersonal and communication skills; being attentive to details, proactive and self-initiative
- Willing to learn new technologies and solutions
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese
