The Role
Prepare and maintain the full set of accounts accurately. Manage 2-3 senior accountants. Identify and implement process improvements. Business partner with business director group and some corporate functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly closing for Sotheby’s Hong Kong and Sotheby’s Retail Wine
- Prepare analysis and certain balance sheet reconciliations for the two companies.
- Lead in year-end budget planning and monthly forecast
- Liaise with Hong Kong and Global auditors for local audit and group audit
- Manage Asia audit performed by the other members of the finance team members
Others:
- Perform commission analysis on complex deals
- Prepare tax pack for group reporting
- Business partner with Marketing and the Business Director and Managers
- Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the senior accountants
- Review and approve journals on SAP prepared by the senior accountants
- Identify areas of improvement on the current process and implement changes where appropriate
- Participate in ad-hoc duties as requested, not limited to additional main and mid-season auction-based duties which may include, but are not limited to sale supports for multiple departments
- Operate at all times in line with corporate governance and compliance policies, practices and procedures
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Degree level or equivalent in Accounting, HKICPA /ACCA/ACA qualified
- 7 years+ of solid accounting and auditing experience (either gained through practice or industry)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English and Cantonese/ or Mandarin essential, Must be able to read and write Chinese
- Previous experience with SAP is a plus but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good organisational skills with proven ability of meeting deadlines
- Detail oriented, set high demand in quality of work, effectively maintain confidentiality and preserve integrity of sensitive information/data
- Ability to work under pressure, and a flexible approach to a wide range of tasks
- Ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours.
