Job Description
Scientific Officer in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health [Ref. C/894/03]
Duties
Lead, administer and coordinate the extra-mural study (EMS) placements for Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) students;
Liaise with local, regional, and overseas EMS placement providers to provide EMS opportunities for veterinary students;
Teach, support and assess BVM students’ veterinary skills in tutorials, extra-mural placements, practical classes and other training activities;
Tutor problem-based learning courses in the BVM curriculum;
Assist with the development and implementation of course-based materials and resources;
Provide administrative support to academic faculty for teaching and learning such as managing course content on the online learning platform and assessment activities; and
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinarian preferably with some clinical training or experience in tertiary teaching. The applicant should have good command of written and spoken English; and strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin is desirable but not essential.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
