We purchase over 400,000 metric tonnes of steel/hi-chrome on behalf of the business units. Most of this material is supplied by global specialty steel suppliers/foundries based in Asia.  Each supplier has rigorous quality control processes, however, they has specific quality needs. The role of the quality assurance officer is to audit and manage the suppliers to ensure the integrity of the product supplied to the our businesses.

This role is a key member of the Singapore procurement team and is responsible for providing and maintaining quality assurance processes and systems, coordination of specific product testing, and support for customer complaints enquiries and product conformance verification. Specifically, the role is responsible for:

• Provision and maintenance of a quality management system compliant with (or capable of being complaint with) ISO 9001.
• Leading value chain alignment to external and internal customer requirements, in a quality integrity context, such that products & processes are controlled to maximise the value for our internal customers (the businesses).
• Providing technical support and expertise to global procurement regarding steel/hi-chrome/other quality assurance management including specification and quality.
• Development and deployment of quality assurance and auditing systems for steel/hi-chrome/other suppliers.
• Other duties as required by the Singapore procurement team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification – engineering, metallurgy, quality
• Demonstrated experience in quality system management.
• Steel industry or steel related / foundries industry experience
• Practitioner qualifications in root cause analysis (certificates, courses, or equivalent)
• Experience in the development and deployment of a quality assurance programme
• Non-destructive testing certificate or equivalent
• Lesser experienced candidate would be considered as Assistant QA Officer

Functional Competencies

• Experience in 3rd party testing house or manufacturing operations.
• Sound understanding of metal processing/ steel manufacturing / alloy casting methodologies.
• Above average experience in root cause analysis
• Chinese speaking
• English speaking
• Ability to travel frequently – China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Korea.
