Job Description
This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
(Candidate with less experience may be considered for the post of Senior Officer, Accessibility)
You will be responsible for:
- assisting the implementation of the Authority’s internal policies on universal accessibility;
- assisting the drafting of district-wide guidelines on different areas of accessibility, including but not limited to physical environment, information, digital, etc.;
- liaising with a range of both internal and external stakeholders on matters related to inclusion and accessibility;
- coordinating trainings, access audits, accommodations and services for the District;
- providing advice and technical assistance on accessibility related matters;
- supporting the production of accessible marketing and promotional materials for the District;
- assisting to promote inclusive and accessible events externally;
- conducting research on different areas of inclusion and accessibility;
- providing administration support to the team in accordance with the Authority’s internal policies and guidance;
- handling accessibility related enquiries and complaints on a timely basis; and
- performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by the Authority.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree or equivalent;
- have 3 to 5 years of solid working experience in accessibility, inclusion or disability-related field;
- be well versed in computer literacy in MS Office, knowledge in Adobe applications, screen readers and making accessible documents will be a plus;
- be proficient in English and Chinese, knowledge in Hong Kong Sign language will be a plus;
- have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and professionally with a diverse population;
- have strong research skills and interested in comparative research on matters related to inclusion and accessibility;
- ideally be passionate about disability arts and culture; experience of trainings on accessibility, universal design, human rights, equality, diversity and translation of complicated content into plain language / easy to read style will be a plus; and
- have prior experiences in working with people with disabilities, access audit, accessibility services, inclusion and equality training, universal design, knowledge of discrimination ordinances and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be a plus.
