M+ Internship Programme 2024/2025 (Summer Intake) – Learning and Interpretation (Interpretation) (Ref: R5403)
The M+ Internship Programme, supported by The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Hong Kong, is a unique opportunity for those who are interested in developing a career in the museum field. You will work closely with the M+ team full time for a period of one year, gaining both practical and theoretical training. This intake will take place from August 2024 to August 2025.
The Learning and Interpretation Internship provides hands-on training for potential museum professionals who are interested in gaining curatorial experience on museum education. Working under the supervision of one of our curators as their mentor, the interns will assist on upcoming learning programmes and events on various aspects; including interpretation and audience engagement.
You will be able to:
- explore topics of research in fields such as museum pedagogy, interpretation strategy and audience engagement;
- develop deep understanding of museum education and curatorial practice through the content development process of innovative learning programmes and interpretive resources;
- design and conduct evaluation exercise for interpretive tools and different gallery-based learning outlets;
- assist in planning and execution of gallery-related activities for different audience groups;
- support the Learning and Interpretation team and support the operation of a range of educational events and offerings for different audience group such as schools or families; and
- gain exposure and a unique insight into the working of international project for M+.
You need to:
- be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
- possess a recognised university degree or equivalent qualification in education, cultural studies, sociology, humanities, social work or a related subject;
- have strong interest in visual culture education and museum learning;
- be passionate about engaging museum audiences;
- have excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese / Mandarin);
- have strong organizational skills and detail-oriented;
- be open-minded to learning new things and collaborating with others;
- be required to work on some weekends and public holidays for supporting learning programmes; and;
- have skills dealing with digital and multimedia management is preferred but not required.
