Job Description
OneDegree is a new generation of InsurTech that reimagines the industry with design and digital innovation. We are currently offering Pet, Fire, Critical Illness, and Home Insurance and are expected to provide wider coverage to the general public in the coming year.
Want to join us and make a change? We are looking for an experienced HR Manager who takes ownership of all HR matters across the company from recruitment to performance reviews, wage reviews, disciplinary action, and learning and development.

What you will be doing:
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement the HR department's strategic plan, aligning it with the company's overall goals and objectives.
- Set clear departmental objectives and track progress towards achieving them.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the HR team.
- Talent Acquisition and Management:
- Oversee the entire recruitment process, from developing job descriptions and attracting qualified candidates to conducting interviews and making hiring decisions.
- Develop and implement onboarding programs for new hires.
- Manage employee relations, including addressing employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
- Partner with managers to develop and implement performance management programs.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Design and administer competitive compensation and benefits packages.
- Stay up-to-date on current HR trends and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
Other Responsibilities:
- Conduct HR audits and investigations.
- Manage the HR budget.
- Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on all HR-related matters.
- Participate in ad hoc projects when required.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent.
- 7 years+ of experience in human resources or related field.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
- Experience in following and maintaining workplace privacy.
- Deep understanding of Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
- Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
- Knowledge of HR functions and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Superb computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office and related HR software.
- Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
