Teaching Assistant (Learning Support)

Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), a non-profit making company wholly owned by the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications for Teaching Assistant (Learning Support).
The Teaching Assistant (Learning Support) will report to the Learning Support Team Leader. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for allocated administrative and professional duties in the Learning Support Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Main Classroom Duties
- Working collaboratively with teachers in the implementation of Student Support Plans and Individual Program Plans when required
- Reinforcing learning and implementing instructional programs in small groups or with individuals
- Working with individual students in activities initiated by the learning support teacher and/or Learning Support Team Leader
- Providing opportunities and strategies for students to take ownership of their learning
- Supporting students with special needs in classroom and extra-curricular activities
- Observing, recording and charting student learning as requested by the Learning Support Team Leader
- Supporting teachers to promote positive behavior and nurture the social and emotional development of students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Preparing and producing instructional materials and modifications
- Working with students in the online curriculum course(s)
- Other duties as assigned by the Learning Support Team Leader
Other Student Supervision Duties
- Providing supervision of students in the morning before school and during recesses and lunch break
- Supporting and supervising students in their participation in activities
- Supervising at specified times and in designated areas
- Walking around and be aware of what is going on, collaborating to ensure that lines of sight and less visible areas are thoroughly covered
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree holder or related disciplines is required
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in a school setting
- Commitment to best educational practices and on-going professional improvement
- Knowledge and experience working with students of diverse or educational needs
- Previous experience working in an international school setting highly desirable
- Candidate embracing values of Christian education preferred
Effective Date of Employment
The starting date for this appointment is mid-August 2024.
