IT Officer in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 527249) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or above in Information Technology or a related discipline, with at least 5 years’ of relevant work experience.  They are expected to learn fast, possess good interpersonal skills and a strong sense of responsibility, and be able to work proactively with various teams under a fast-paced environment.    Solid experience in Linux (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server system administration, system shell scripting, database management, server hardware setup and maintenance, and peta-scale storage systems using distributed parallel file systems are required.  Familiarity with high-Performance Computing Clusters, VM/Container, cloud technologies, and Python would be advantageous.  They should also have proven leadership in managing and leading an IT support team with a track record of team development and achieving results, strong technical background and ability to provide expert-level support across a range of IT systems and applications, and knowledge of scripting to automate tasks, ability to strong problem-solving and decision-making skills as well as prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.  Experience in IT procurement including vendor management and contract negotiation is also valued. 

The appointee will support the Faculty’s IT Team to provide support in maintaining the overall IT infrastructure, including classroom support, server administration and provision of quality IT services, ensuring all systems well-functioning, offering guidance, training, and mentorship for delivering high-quality IT support and services, overseeing IT procurement activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary guidelines, and supporting various projects by coordinating IT requirements and ensuring seamless execution, and collaborating with stakeholders across the University and Faculty levels to ensure alignment of IT systems and processes.  The appointee will also provide technical support to events and functions, and perform ad hoc projects as assigned.   Working outside normal office hours and on weekends may be required occasionally.
