Job Description

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, we are building one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world, with a bold ambition to establish ourselves as one of the world’s leading cultural institutions. Our aim is to create a new kind of museum that reflects our unique time and place, a museum that builds on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.

Reporting to the Head, Museum Business , M+, the Museum Business and Research Manager is key role in supporting different tasks and operations from the Museum Business Team including market research and business project. This position will require to manage and communicate to relevant stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.

 

(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)


Job Description

You will be responsible for:

  • driving and managing museum research, from research design, arrangement of interviewing resources, research results analysis to reporting and communication of research findings
  • the development and maintenance of museum-wide Key Performance Indicators, dashboard aggregating, of qualitative analytics from research or other feedback channels.
  • producing clear project plans to implement research and project, support the effective execution; monitor milestones and provide reports for senior management;
  • project managing approved research and projects, develop and monitor project programme, timeline and budget; and manage external consultants for projects completion
  • developing internal communications plans to implement outcomes of projects and research findings to relevant stakeholders;
  • identifying areas of potential improvements for the museum to achieve its long-term objectives, pre-empting operational difficulties for teams;
  • scoping potential consultancy and research needs for projects when necessary.
  • supporting other ad hoc duties assigned by supervisor as required.

 

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Project Management, Arts Administration or related disciplines;
  • have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 5 years at a managerial position in project management and research role identifying strategic opportunities and developing and executing project plans;
  • experience in managing multiple, high-level, organization-wide projects that require aligning of various departments’ strategies and priorities. Experience in managing research consultancy is an advantage.
  • experience managing internal, multi-stakeholder projects requiring research and analysis; designing and development of project and operational plans then execution and monitoring of projects;
  • a team player with good collaboration, communication and influencing skills
  • be a creative self-motivator who aims to drive things forward both in strategy and execution;
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Putonghua
  • Good computer literacy in using MS Office and MS Project. Advance knowledge in use of Excel or other statistical application in analysis will be an advantage
  • Experience in a museum or other cultural organization is an advantage.
