Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • To drive and deliver the Community Impact & Engagement strategies for HK to support the global priorities including but not limited to the Bank’s global community initiative Futuremakers.
  • To contribute to the overall Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing (CABM) vision/priorities as a member of CABM.
  • To provide strategic advice to Group / Country Management Team as well as staff on community engagement including but not limited to community-related sponsorships.
  • To work with internal and external stakeholders to manage and implement key projects and strategy changes across the Bank.
  • To understand and communicate the Group strategy to teams under the area of responsibilities. 

Business

  • To be accountable to local CEO, and Business Heads to echo the community Impact and engagement agenda with their market strategies, whilst maintaining and balancing Group standards and priorities.
  • To lead the team of 3-4 members to develop plans to deliver quality activities to drive exceptional stakeholder and corporate level experience backed up by well-designed actionable metrics on plan, budget, time.

Processes

  • To ensure the teams follow their operating instructions.
  • To proactively manage advertising and media agencies.
  • To identify areas for process improvement and recommend ways to increase functional effectiveness and improve operational efficiencies

 

People & Talent

  • To work with Head, CABM, HK to create a strong professional team of CABM professionals
  • To share and advise on best practices and emerging industry developments on CABM professions across the region
  • To enhance leadership capability and create a culture of talent development and empowerment in CABM. 
  • To coach the Community Impact & Engagement team to enhance their professional and management skills and provide career advice for their continuous development
  • To assess and measure the team’s activities to ensure alignment with plans, forecasts and capacity models.

Risk Management

  • To take first line risk management responsibilities into own responsibilities and every general management role, following the global structure and incorporating business, functional and geographic entity dimensions.  
  • To ensure a full understanding and effective management of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility, and actively seek advice from specialists wherever required.
  • To ensure all material risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported so that known risks are controlled within acceptable boundaries and to consistent standards.
  • To ensure all applicable policies, procedures, limits and other risk control requirements are implemented and compiled with, and that applicable external rules and regulations are compiled with. 
  • To align business (or functional) strategy with Risk Tolerance and Appetite and seek to optimize the risk-return profile of the business.
  • To set the right tone and expectations for the team and their area of responsibility for the risk management culture and conduct, and proactively seek regular assurance that their areas of responsibility are performing to an acceptable. 

 

Governance

  • To maintain robust business and regulatory governance standard by adhered to relevant process, policies and procedures.
  • To maintain high awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the business operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. 
  • To ensure completion of all mandatory training including e-learning within stated timeframes to support the understanding of the roles for delivering effective governance 
  • To oversee the team and relevant third parties (wherever applicable) effectively to ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls for the team to deliver effective governance. 

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.]
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience in corporate social responsibility and communications, preferably in the banking/financial services industry within an international context
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Languages:  English, Cantonese, Mandarin
