Job Description
At ConnectedGroup, we are working together with one of the largest and most active Chambers of Commerce in Hong Kong, in the search for their Chief Executive Officer.
Reporting into the Board of Directors and leading a small team together with a number of external contractors, the CEO will be responsible to promote and represent their members and organizational values, enable connections, engage and grow bilateral relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the strategic direction of the Chamber in consultation with key stakeholders and the Board.
- Effectively balance the needs of the Board of Directors and external stakeholders in an inclusive, transparent, and collaborative manner.
- Lead and manage the Chamber with appropriate governance, standards, and risk management frameworks and processes.
- Ensure the Chamber remains relevant and important to members as well as financially sound and healthy.
- Provide astute, commercial organizational leadership and day-to-day management embodying high governance standards and value to staff, committees, members, and all stakeholders.
- Strengthen and expand the alliances with key business, government, and community stakeholders.
- Grow member numbers, and ensure that current members remain active, involved, engaged, and see value in maintaining their membership status.
- Communicate the views of their community to Hong Kong and their own Government through formal policy submissions, public relations, and social media.
- Promote future business opportunities and relationships in Hong Kong and China, developing a space for business networking between members, government, and stakeholders.
- Deliver and support a range of engaging and profitable events to meet the needs and interests of members and prospective members and augment their advocacy programme.
- Foster and provide strong support in ensuring that their committees are active and engaged, in order to leverage subject matter expertise and ensure connections to specific industries, functions and professions.
- Create a working environment that engenders high staff satisfaction, strong engagement and optimal productivity.
Requirements:
- Bachelors' degree, with higher level educational qualifications in relevant disciplines.
- Over 10 years of professional experience, having held senior leadership roles - Strong strategic thinking and planning ability, commercially savvy, with strong financial acumen and advanced influencing and management skills.
- Excellent people leadership and management skills.
- Experience in seeking corporate sponsorship and funding in Hong Kong and China.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working with government and non-government bodies (e.g. universities, think tanks, charities, etc.)
- Native English level, with Cantonese and Mandarin proficiency as a strong plus.
