Job Description
At ConnectedGroup, we are working in partnership with HER Fund in the search for their new Executive Director. HER Fund is a Hong Kong tax exempt charity that mobilizes resources for women's empowerment and promotion of gender equality, supporting the most vulnerable women, girls, and trans people in Hong Kong by providing grants, capacity-building, and leadership training.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, and leading a team of passionate individuals, the Executive Director has overall strategic and operational responsibility for HER Fund's programs, partnerships, execution of its mission, and the engaged and positive leadership of its team.
As HER Fund celebrates the milestone of its 20th anniversary the new Executive Director will also have the unique opportunity to lead HER Fund in an exciting new phase building on its strong foundation as Hong Kong's leading community grant platform and growing and deepening its impact as a respected grantmaker in Hong Kong and internationally.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance, development, and implementation of the organization's strategic direction to advance its mission and vision.
- Work on risk management including anticipating, assessing, and navigating crisis and risk, making timely decisions in the face of uncertainties.
- Develop, execute, and monitor the year plan and budget, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals, and oversee the organization's financial health and ensuring effective and sustainable operations and the future growth needs of the organization.
- Develop the grant-making and capacity strengthening programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, and ensuring the expected team execution.
- Develop and implement the monitoring, evaluation and learning framework to track impact and improvement, ensuring alignment with the team, and making improvements as needed.
- Represent the organization in different spaces and capacities to foster collaboration and partnerships, and to maintain relationships with movements and networks, locally and internationally. Ability to travel 2-3 times per year.
- Lead and develop strategies on nurturing a more favorable philanthropic environment for the organization and its grantee partners in the long run.
- Lead the resources mobilization strategy and execute the plan with the team to secure financial support.
- Lead, inspire, motivate, and mentor the staff team through a caring organizational culture, fostering learning, training, personal and professional growth collectively and independently.
Requirements:
- University degree in a relevant subject, with at least 5 years of senior leadership and management experience.
- Experience in non-profit management, grant-making, philanthropy, public relations, fundraising, corporate social responsibility, and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is strongly preferred.
- Experience of fundraising with a track record of supporting an organization to develop and grow sustainably.
- The ideal candidate should share the organizational vision, mission, and values. Leading with gender perspective and sensitivity.
- Strong understanding of the local gender equality situation, especially within the marginalized and grassroots communities.
- Excellent communications skills in English and Chinese.
