Job Description
Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in Landscape Architecture in the Division of Landscape Architecture in the Department of Architecture (Ref. 527309), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis.
Applicants should hold a professional degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely-related field and a minimum of two years teaching experience in tertiary institutions. They should demonstrate excellence in teaching in areas of landscape design, history and theory, and media subjects. Applicants should have experience teaching within teams as well as experience developing courses independently. We seek candidates who also hold significant experience in professional practice, particularly in ways that bring technical and/or multidisciplinary perspectives to their teaching approaches.
The appointee will be expected to teach a range of core landscape subjects at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He/She will also be expected to carry out administrative duties such as academic advising, programme promotion, or admissions. While the Lecturer position is primarily a teaching-focused role, the appointee will be encouraged to seek opportunities for public engagement, exhibitions, conferences, and other forms of design scholarship that enhance their overall teaching practice.
A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as annual leave and medical benefits.
The University only accepts online applications for the above post. Applicants should apply online at the University’s career site (https://jobs.hku.hk), and upload an up-to-date C.V., a one-page teaching statement, and a teaching portfolio (less than 50MB). Review of applications will commence as soon as possible and continue until July 31, 2024, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
The University thanks applicants for their interest, but advises that only shortlisted applicants will be notified of the application result.
