The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) serves as a bridge between the HKUST research community and industry, creating collaboration and innovation from the University research outcomes and capabilities. OKT manages inventions and Intellectual Properties (IP) of HKUST, formulates strategic commercialization plans, identifies potential collaborators with faculty members, and establishes commercialization projects with industry partners. OKT also incubates and supports HKUST’s technology-based start-ups and encourages entrepreneurship development. OKT is inviting competent and passionate professionals to join the knowledge transfer team.
The OKT has initiated several digital transformation projects, among others, to develop holistic platforms to provide ultimate support for data collection, data-sharing, data analytics and integration among different systems to facilitate the knowledge transfer (KT) needs of HKUST members and enable the supply of more value-added services to the Office and the HKUST community. The appointee will be responsible for:
- Proposing and developing new technology initiatives by working with individual teams in OKT, including the Knowledge Transfer Management System (KTMS), Funding Programs Management System, KT websites, etc., that align with the KT, business development and marketing strategy of the Office;
- Administrating and enhancing the Intellectual Property Management System (IPMS), other IT systems and IT infrastructure managed by OKT; translating users’ requests into technical specifications, evaluating impacts, proposing recommendations, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to determine the most effective implementation approach;
- Liaising and collaborating with internal IT departments and external vendors to enforce the University IT policy and guidelines, and delivering IT projects within designated timeframes;
- Ensuring the data security of IT systems and projects by complying with relevant regulations and standards;
- Overall planning, managing and reviewing the IT equipment in the Office to ensure seamless operations; exploring new solutions, conducting feasibility studies, and analyzing requirements to continue improving the operational efficiency;
- Managing the IT budget and ensuring that all technology and IT-related purchases are within budgetary constraints;
- Leading the IT staff to provide technical expertise and support to the Office;
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or above in information system, computer science, or related disciplines, with at least 6 years of relevant work experience in designing and supporting IT systems, web application development and database management. The ideal candidate should have:
- Solid project management experience in IT projects and System Development Life Cycle from User Requirement/Design to User Acceptance;
- Experience in content management system (CMS) and workflow management system is desired;
- A good knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) platform and low-code application platforms would be an advantage;
- Strong technical and programming knowledges;
- Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and professionals of diverse backgrounds in both industry and academia;
- The ability to work independently and competence in multi-tasking are required; and
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
