Job Description
SERVICE-LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP OFFICE
Assistant Service-Learning Officer (Temporary Appointment) (two posts) (Ref. 240719014)
[Appointment period: each for twelve months]
Duties
The appointees will be required to:
(a) assist in planning and implementing innovative non-local service-learning and leadership programmes in close collaboration with academic staff;
(b) assist in developing meaningful and challenging non-local service-learning and leadership opportunities;
(c) assist in promoting service-learning and leadership development inside and outside PolyU;
(d) assist in planning and organising large-scale events such as symposia, conferences or summits; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.
The appointee may be required to travel occasionally outside Hong Kong and work on irregular hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree, preferably in Education, Engineering, Information Technology, Psychology or Social Science;
(b) at least three years’ relevant post-qualification working experience;
(c) good computer literacy and/or statistical evaluation skills;
(d) the ability to work independently and proactively;
(e) a good command of written and spoken English; and
(f) an outgoing personality and good social skills.
Preference will be given to those with working experience in student development or academic service-learning in the tertiary education sector.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to sit for written and IT tests.
