Job Overview

This role leads the hotel's marketing efforts, from developing strategies to driving brand and communication related initiatives. We play a crucial role in shaping our hotel's brand image, creating awareness and driving revenue growth. Those who are creative and open-minded, have a deep understanding of market dynamics and consumer behaviours will enjoy the role.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome to the core of what being a Director of Marketing & Communications is all about!

Here's the quick lowdown on what you'll do day-to-day:

  • Be responsible for the planning, direction, control, and coordination of all marketing and communication activities of the hotel, ultimately to maximise the hotel’s positioning, positive publicity and revenue generating capability 
  • Bring a strategic and market-savvy mindset to lead the yearly marketing and promotional plan, including PR, digital media planning, and working with the sales team to drive direct business via digital, social media and below-the-line campaigns
  • Introduce and develop partnership opportunities with brands, companies, and nonprofits that add commercial and/or reputational value to the hotel, in particular with luxury lifestyle and luxury retail brands
  • Formulate and implement the hotel’s public relations strategies including maintaining excellent relationships with local and international media (travel media, leisure & lifestyle, trade, food, business), managing 3rd party agencies, promote good publicity and counteract bad exposure
  • Support the roll out of brand marketing initiatives, brand public relations, events and communications initiatives in the Hotel
  • Manage the marketing team and provide guidance and support to team members
  • Devise, monitor and control the annual marketing and communications budget

Requirements

Here's exactly what you need to excel in this role:

The Non-Negotiables (Must-Haves):

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the marketing, public relations or related professional area with at least 5 years of managerial experience
  • Degree or above in public relations, hospitality management, journalism, language, sales and marketing or related disciplines
  • Strong leadership, proactive and determined with excellent interpersonal and communications skills

The Cherries on Top (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience managing multiple direct reports with different skill sets, strengths and talents, and of managing PR agencies
  • Good knowledge in e-commerce and digital marketing
