Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of packaging materials to support our manufacturing operations. You will work closely with our Procurement Manager to develop and implement sourcing strategies, negotiate complex contracts, and oversee the day-to-day procurement activities. 

Key Responsibilities:

Packaging Materials Sourcing:

• Identify and qualify new suppliers of packaging materials such as boxes, labels, bottles, caps, etc.
• Conduct in-depth market analysis and industry research to stay abreast of trends and opportunities
• Negotiate favorable pricing, lead times, and other contract terms with suppliers to obtain the best value for the company
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor their performance and quality to ensure materials meet our specifications
• Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies

Procurement Team Management:

• Set ambitious team goals and objectives, monitor progress, and provide comprehensive coaching and feedback
• Identify training needs and implement strategic professional development programs to build a highly capable team
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the procurement team

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with production, quality, and logistics teams to understand their evolving needs and requirements
• Participate in new product development projects to ensure appropriate and cost-effective packaging solutions
• Communicate procurement plans, risks, and performance metrics to key stakeholders and executives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement Management, Business, or a related field, with a preference for an advanced degree
• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in procurement, with a strong focus on packaging materials sourcing
• Proven track record of successful contract negotiations and management
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and strategic decision-making abilities
• Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing procurement teams
• Proficient in using procurement software, data analysis tools, and ERP systems
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
