Job Description:

The Assistant Group Financial Controller will oversee the finance functions for the Group and its subsidiaries, which operate across various business segments, including the sales and marketing of electronic and health products, logistics and aftersales services, engineering and contracting, advertising, property development, property investment, and private equity investments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounting, Tax, and Company Secretarial Responsibilities:

• Ensure audited financial statements of Group companies comply with accounting standards in Hong Kong and China.
• Prepare timely financial reports for operating subsidiaries and consolidate group financial statements for top management.
• Review and enhance accounting systems to meet management expectations.
• Improve efficiency and effectiveness of annual budget presentations and cash-flow forecasts for business units, including the development of appropriate KPIs.
• Assess and manage risks facing business units by strengthening internal control systems.
• Ensure timely submission of tax returns and address queries from tax authorities in various operating countries.
• Develop and review accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations in the jurisdictions where Group companies are incorporated.
• Prepare and review board resolutions to approve key operational matters for Group companies.
• Update Articles of Association in response to changes in the Companies Ordinance in Hong Kong or equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.
• Meet Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) requirements as required by financial institutions, Trust or Company Services Providers, and intermediaries.

2. Investments:

• Monitor and appraise direct investments in overseas countries.
• Review merger and acquisition documents and oversee due diligence processes.
• Monitor the progress and outcomes of investment projects in the Asia Pacific region.

3. Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist in enhancing IT systems to improve efficiency in financial reporting.
• Support treasury functions.
• Communicate with major bankers to negotiate terms of banking facilities.
• Serve as a member of various management committees.

Job Requirements:

• Membership in the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA).
• Membership in the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI) is preferred but not essential.
• A degree in Finance and/or Accounting.
• A minimum of 3 years of solid audit experience with a Big 4 firm.
• At least 8 years of financial management experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role within a sizable group.
• Experience in real estate investment and leasing is preferred.
• Proven track record in managing accounting, tax, secretarial, investment, and treasury matters for diversified groups with operations in Hong Kong, China, and other countries.
• Hands-on experience in investment evaluation and mergers and acquisitions.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong and PRC accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
• Willingness to travel to the PRC and other countries as required.
