Role Introduction
Reports to: General Manager Finance and Performance

The Head of Finance Cargo enables Cathay Pacific to become one of the world’s greatest service brands by supporting the development of a value aware organisation in which each individual understands how they impact the finances of the company & can therefore always make the best decisions for the company.
The Head of Finance Cargo partners closely with the Director Cargo and supports Cargo Line of Business teams headed by:
- GM Cargo Service Delivery
- GM Cargo Commercial
- COO, Air Hong Kong
- COO, Cathay Cargo Terminal
- CEO, Global Logistics System
The Head of Finance Cargo supports the Cargo Line of Business to develop and implement strategies to drive profitable growth while adapting to the volatile market conditions. The Head of Finance Cargo leads the teams in both Cathay Cargo and Cargo Subsidiaries in providing finance business partnering at Cathay Cargo to facilitate business decision making and create value beyond financial boundaries.
The Head of Finance Cargo has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all of the Cargo Line of Business’s finance activities, including business planning, budgeting and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Business Partnering
- Support and enable the Director Cargo and the Cathay Cargo management teams to always make the best decisions for the company by having efficient and insightful access to the financial information and understanding the financial implications impacting on their commercial operations.
- Support Cathay Cargo project evaluation (BCD) and responsibility for project accounting
- Assists the Director Cargo in raising awareness of compliance and enhance internal control throughout Cathay Cargo
- Perform ad-hoc assignments as and when required.
Planning and Budgeting
- Support the GMs and the Heads in the annual budget exercise
- Plan and coordinate the preparation of Annual Budget Review and Interim Business Review
- Regularly prepare and consolidate current year forecast
Performance Reporting
- Present all management financial information and insights across the Cargo Line of Business to enable management to monitor and improve business performance
- Develop and implement a KPI framework to measure business performance at the Cargo Line of Business level
Revenue Accounting – Cargo Line of Business
- Lead the team responsible for all cargo revenue accounting, including: oversight of appropriate revenue recognition; revenue accounting systems; and supporting the implementation of new sales initiatives; etc
- Closely monitor the accounts receivables balance
People and Organisation
- Provide coaching to all team members on their development
- Build the team required to fulfil the broad set of accountabilities
- Provide and promote a working environment to stimulate team member performance
- Foster a learning culture within the teams
Requirements
- Qualified HKICPA or International Chartered Accountant.
- 10 years’ experience demonstrating a broad set of financial analysis, compliance, control and partnership skills including management experience.
- A proven ability to manage a large team handling multiple and diverse issues, articulate a clear change vision and set goals / hold middle management accountable to outcomes, strong communicator with ability to confidently and clearly engage (authoritatively) within the team, the wider business at various levels and with external stakeholders (such as IATA, banks, etc)
- Aviation knowledge an advantage
