Job Description

CFO (FMCG)

Our client is a world-leading FMCG business with a presence across the globe. We are currently seeking a seasoned finance leader to head their Hong Kong finance team. In this role, you will lead a large team and serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO of Hong Kong.

Position Responsibilities

  • Report to the CEO and lead a team of 50 Finance professionals across the globe
  • Ensure effective management of the company's financial resources.
  • Enhance business and operational performance with a focus on revenue growth, profitability, capital allocation, effective use of capital, and management of working capital.
  • Improve margin management by implementing revenue growth initiatives and cost efficiency/productivity measures.
  • Act as a key business partner and decision-maker for the General Manager and functional directors, supporting the company's growth objectives.
  • Maintain a robust governance framework for the organization and ensure compliance with legal, tax, internal controls, and other regulatory requirements to protect the company's assets.
  • Establish and uphold sufficient accounting systems to provide timely, accurate, relevant, and decision-oriented information to users, senior management, and functional teams.
  • Manage working capital and cash effectively, focusing on optimizing working capital to maximize available cash flow and enhance free cash flow.
  • Oversee tax affairs with an emphasis on reducing the company's effective tax rate (within the appropriate financing structure) while fostering a positive relationship with tax authorities.
  • Ensure collaboration among functional teams to minimize the overall cost of risk.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and government agencies regarding audits, financial matters, legal affairs, and banking.
  • Provide leadership, vision, coaching, guidance, and feedback to the finance team to enhance their performance and motivation.
  • Develop finance capabilities and business acumen throughout the organization to improve financial literacy and the assessment of financial data.
  • Streamline and standardize business processes, policies, and templates.
  • Undertake and manage ad hoc projects as identified.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Over 15 years of finance experience, including at least 8 years in managerial or leadership roles, overseeing Finance Controllers, FP&A, and Business Partnering functions.
  • Qualified member of a recognized professional accounting institute (e.g., HKICPA, ICAEW, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Prior senior finance leadership experience in a sizable FMCG business is essential.
  • Strategic leader with a strong business acumen, effective leadership, and execution abilities.
  • Creative thinker with new ideas for business improvement and import/export initiatives.
  • Possesses a growth mindset, consistently seeking ways to enhance processes for greater efficiency.
  • Willing and able to make decisions based on data, analytics, and factual information.
  • Detail-oriented with a logical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong crisis management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and business partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Experience working across matrices of center, region, and market, as well as across various functions.
  • Proven track record in driving transformation and change within the team.
  • Experience in project management and change management.
  • Proficient in MS Office, financial systems, SAP, or other ERP software is a plus.
