Business Function

Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

Responsibilities:

  • To lead and manage the operation of Securities & Fiduciary Services Operations by constantly reviewing the supporting process for securities settlement, nominee services and fund administration at an efficient and cost-effectiveness manner; and ensuring adherence to established procedures and performance standards in terms of output quality and turnaround time
  • Ensure tasks of the unit are completed within specified standards of quality, agreed service level, turnaround time and industry cut-off time
  • Develop and continuously review, streamline and improve processes to increase efficiency, productivity
  • Liaise and work with Regional Securities & Fiduciary Services Operations to improve and optimize on the use of the Bank's operation related systems
  • Manage working relationships with internal partners and service partners to ensure that a seamless process flow for applications and to support their initiatives for revenue generation and market share expansion
  • Recommend and implement appropriate actions in response to regulatory and related developments that impact operation guidelines
  • Keep abreast of market development and practices and share with staff members
  • Issue procedure manual and ensure manual is updated with changes in process and guidelines over time
  • Provide direction by setting performance targets for staff and monitor, appraise actual performance against targets
  • Manage budget delivery, efficiency, productivity and resource utilization by means of management tool kit
  • Coach and develop subordinates and guide them in completing their assignment
  • Promote and encourage open and good communication amongst all levels of staff with care, respect and honesty
  • Adhere, provide guidance and ensure the staff / departments comply with the rules, guidelines and regulatory requirement of the Bank, HKMA, SFC, MAS, etc pertaining to the operations
  • Escalate exceptional/outstanding/suspicious transactions to Head of Institutional Banking Group Operations and other relevant parties for necessary follow up action per the T&O and Group Significant Incident Notification Protocol Guideline
  • Comply with UDMA Policy requirement and operation manual for UDMA change management process which include UDMA governance process, control and support tasks, if required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • At least 10 years’ of experience in management role from securities operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic and exhibit critical thinking
  • Analytical, overall comfortable with numbers. 
  • Able to manage stakeholders well, experienced in managing conflicts. 
  • Independent, proactive, self-motivated and strong risk control mindset
  • Energetic, enjoys driving change and solving new problems
  • Team player, demonstrable ability to collaborate widely across the organization
