In our brand new office, and a lab in Shatin, we have a task-orientated working life. You are expected to deliver on your promises and get the job done, but you're free to organise your daily routine to accommodate your schedule with our flexi-time structure. On a 9am-6pm day, we have a +/-1 hr flexi-time to best suit yourself and we rarely have late nights or weekends.
What we do and what you will be doing at PMD..
Our main work and income is designing, manufacturing and supplying miniature motors and mechanisms. These products are used by engineering companies across the world; such as 3M, Motorola, Intel, Honeywell for their cars, robots, medical products, toys, and tools for example. As a ISO9001:2008 certified company, we have a true focus on systematic product testing and release and supplier control. We design the products, build jigs and tools to help our subcontract manufacturers achieve zero-defects, then build test machines to test and evaluate the product on a batch-by-batch level.
This focus on real engineering has won us the trust of many respected engineering companies around the world and a 40-50% explosive growth in the business and resulting in a rapid expansion of our team. To keep delivering solid, reliable engineering, we need engineers backed by solid, reliable and fast technicians. This is is where you come in; as the specialist in CAD your typical day may include:
- Prepare, amend, and update mechanical designs, models and drawings with SolidWorks
- Prepare manufacturing engineering drawings to ISO standard with full dimensional tolerances
- Support the Manufacturing Engineer with design and development of tooling and jigs for manufacturing and testing
- Support the Product Development Engineer by proactively preparing product design models and assembly methods for prototype and volume manufacture
- Utilise the 3D printing machine to build prototypes, jig samples and components
We'll provide you with a dedicated SolidWorks workstation with dual monitors and 3D mouse to help you to boost productivity.
What we're looking for..
First and foremost, you have to LOVE CAD. You have to be proud of your complex, yet simple assemblies, and enjoy getting the 2D draft drawing correct and well laid out on the page; with enough detail to clearly indicate requirements, but not too congested. You will be working with both our Manufacturing Engineer and Product Development Engineer to design mechanical assemblies which will be manufactured and used to qualify motors in manufacture. Each tool or jig is your creation and you have to care for it to improve it and develop it.
We expect you to have excellent spatial awareness, and ability to sketch out your concepts on the whiteboard and put together quick demos on SolidWorks. As you will be dedicated to CAD, your skills and speed of working with SolidWorks must be exceptional.
For your qualifications, you need to have;
- Degree and/or diploma in Engineering or similar technical field
- Demonstrable skills and experience with SolidWorks, with 2+ years experience in 3D CAD
- Skills in drawing, either through Art qualification, prior work or equivalent
- Fluency in English, communication and written
- Strong ability to visualise 3D concepts and spatial awareness
- Recent graduates will be considered where SolidWorks skills are exceptional
- Hong Kong citizen/resident or other immigration status with no restrictions for work in HK
