Job Description

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Head of Hong Kong Middle Office running the day-to-day activities of the Middle Office
  • Work closely with the fund managers and dealers to provide daily support for their ongoing business requirements spanning a variety of areas such as project  management, new business initiatives, derivatives and structure product management, front office support, defining operating procedures, technology & infrastructure changes, and initiatives raised by risk & compliance departments
  • Take ownership of initiatives and coordinate between the front office (fund managers & dealers) and the various support areas such as operations, technology etc to ensure successful completion
  • Consolidate facts and figures from various sources and provide concise summary updates, prepare and update various management reports on a periodic basis, handle ad-hoc management report requests from senior management and fund managers
  • Working with colleagues from Risk and Compliance to ensure sound controls/ project plans are in place and that they are followed accordingly
  • Regular re-assessment of department controls to ensure they continue to identify and mitigate key risk issues 

Qualifications:

  • A track-record of at least 15 years working in the financial services industry, the successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the equity, fixed income, derivatives product and currency markets gained from experience in investment management or custody businesses
  • University graduate and/ or CFA preferred
  • Must be able to develop a deep understanding of the IM business from end to end, both internal and external practices
  • Effective organization, prioritization and time management skills, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to breakdown complex initiatives into manageable tasks, prioritize and execute accordingly
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Exemplary communication skills both written and spoken, must be able to deliver key messages to senior colleagues in a confident, straight-forward manner
  • Fluency in English plus good language skills (oral and written) in Cantonese and/or Mandarin
  • Offer alternative perspectives to problems and recommend innovative solutions to opportunities
  • Possess strong analytical skills, with great attention to detail and ability to make sound judgment
  • Ability to build relationships, respecting inclusion and diversity, and interact effectively across multiple different locations
  • Comfortable to perform routine tasks as required
  • Able to develop strong trust-based relationships with colleagues and business partners
