Job Description

The Legal Editor is responsible for assuring the integrity, utility and currency of content for online publications, which must be done in the context of strict adherence to the publishing schedule and compliance with our highest quality standards.

The Legal Editor is also responsible for the control and development of accurate content in line with customer needs, keeping aware of and ahead of the competition.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit manuscripts to ensure accuracy, currency, relevance, accessibility and timeliness; write material and perform original research as required; monitor developments in the law.
  • Coordinate with authors and/or editorial board members to ensure on-time delivery of manuscripts and follow up on quality issues.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues and management to ensure efficient execution of day-to-day operations and strategic plans.
  • Work with team members, colleagues, management and customers to develop and implement ongoing product development; participate in the annual cycle of product reviews.
  • Assist other team members as required.

Requirements:

  • University degree in JD/ LLB or equivalent discipline useful
  • Demonstrated legal research skills useful
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills essential
  • Prior editing or writing experiences useful
  • Knowledge of publishing workflow useful
  • Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines essential
  • Computer literacy essential
