Responsibilities:

• Provide in-house legal services and manage external counsel as and when required
• Engage with other members of the global legal team to share and learn
• Oversee all company secretarial matters.
• Ensure corporate governance and compliance of regulations
• Establish a mindset and relevant standards for using business contracts
• Drive the regional implementation of the global Damco Trade Compliance Policies (Anti-Corruption, Foreign Trade Control, and Competition Compliance)
• Review and oversee drafting of regional business contract including customer and supplier contract, etc.
• Ability to support the frequent need to translate and interpret documents into Chinese
• Be responsible for the claim filing and handling to protect the best position of Damco
• Provide legal input (with support from global legal team and external counsel) related to mergers and acquisitions
• Interpret rulings, laws, and regulations for businesses and individuals
• Provide legal advisory for dispute, court case, arbitration etc.
• Collate data for insurance renewal and update changes

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge and experience in China legislation
• 4 to 7 years related legal working experience, preferably with working experience within the Supply chain, Shipping or logistics industry
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
• Well-organized and self-starter capable of handling multiple tasks with the ability to meet deadlines
• Accuracy and attention to detail are absolute qualities which will be expected.
• The ability to work with and relate to people at all levels within the organization in a professional and polite manner
• The openness to understanding constraints and pressure of others and internal requirements and pressures
• Strong communication skills in both business language and legal language
• Flexibility to travel as required for business within the North Asia Region
