Job Description

The Team:
The Marketing Services team within the corporate team delivers integrated communications across all media to reinforce the Morningstar brand. Consisting of marketers, designers, writers, event planners, marketing researchers, and operational managers, this collaborative team acts as an agency that serves the marketing needs across client segments for our Client Solutions group. The team works globally to maintain a consistent brand experience everywhere Morningstar serves investors.

The Role:
We are looking for a marketing director who can spearhead the strategy and development of integrated marketing programs and ensure high-quality service to internal clients across the Asia Pacific region. Leading an account management team of marketing professionals, in this role you will work with the creative, events, and operations Marketing Services teams to create and deliver successful marketing strategies and programs for our key client segments, based on the segments’ marketing plans. You will also be responsible for supporting our sales communication efforts and ensuring that the Morningstar brand is clearly and consistently communicated. This position will be based in our Hong Kong office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage marketing programs that support our operations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
  • Lead cross-capability teams to deliver and sell creative thinking and powerful ideas that meet stated objectives.
  • Assimilate client and marketplace insights into the development of creative strategies and marketing programs.
  • Lead internal teams and clients by pushing forward creative ideas and thought leadership.
  • Use analysis to drive decisions in a way that yields sustained, measurable results.
  • Collaborate with the account management teams for the other Client Solutions segments to share best practices.
  • Effectively coach, train, and manage a team of marketing professionals, fostering teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Maintain or improve the profitability of marketing programs.

Requirements:

  • Significant related industry experience, preferably brand or marketing experience at an advertising agency or client company.
  • Experience with successfully implementing brand awareness programs as well as customer acquisition, retention, and engagement initiatives.
  • Experience in/knowledge of the financial services and investment management industries.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing teams working cross-functionally within an organization and leading regional teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service.
  • Strong project management and performance management skills.
  • Demonstrated budget management and resource planning experience.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in media planning a plus.
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with qualifications that demonstrate a keen interest in marketing; a MBA or other advanced degree/accreditation is strongly preferred.
