Responsibilities 

• Strategically support the ocean strategy of Damco South China in line with global and regional guidelines and needs.
• Drive ocean growth and profitability to the Damco South China organization through acting and providing guidance as subject matter expert of ocean product.
• Drive professional-level product competence to the branches of South China, ultimately creating maximum value for Damco South China cluster and our customers.
• Support the implementation of the ocean product strategy from Regional Ocean Product of the North Asia Region.
• Facilitate ocean product development by supplementing cluster-specific product features to new products developed by NAS Ocean Product as well as by providing recommendations of new products which will benefit the cluster being in charge.
• Identify the cluster’s market trends, potential and customer needs, expand and explore new market opportunities.
• Act as technical resource for the cluster and actively engage with existing and new customers for their continuous support
• Give functional guidance and expertise to support the local operations teams of the cluster in achieving operational excellence, optimal productivity and profitability.
• Drive optimization of margin and volume mix within the cluster through product and commercial initiatives rolled out from Regional Ocean Product
• Derive and manage KPI programs internally within the cluster to drive corporate efficiencies, reduce overall operations cost and to position branches in delivering unparalleled customer service.
• Drive development of products in close cooperation with cluster/branches/Regional Ocean Product/overseas network and facilitate trade lane development as per overall NAS strategy.
• Cooperate closely with global carrier management team / LCMs and drive implementation of carrier management strategy across region.
• Ensure relevant governance and compliance within the cluster in accordance with Damco standards
• Participate or manage special projects and ensure continuous process improvement and guidance to branch offices 

Requirements 

• At least 8 years of industry experience in NVOCC, Freight forwarding, Ocean forwarding
• Ability to work and thrive in a flexible matrix organisation with focus on networking and collaboration.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Team player with proven ability to work under pressure
• Passion for service delivery and cost effectiveness – and for identifying how to constantly improve.
• Ability to balance operational priorities with commercial imperatives.
• Strong drive, initiative and engagement – ability to work self-directed and well organised.
• China experience required
• Good speaking and writing English communication skills; Putonghua essential
