Job Description

Job Summary:

The Merchandising Manager is responsible for developing Asia Pacific product strategies and building strong assortments that drive sustainable, profitable sales growth. The Product Assortment Manager is responsible for creating assortments for Key Accounts and Customers for each brand using consistent retail sell through analysis and in partnership with the global merchandising team and local sales and marketing teams. In addition, the manager will identify region-specific product opportunities and trends, and communicate them to the global merchandising team based in the US. The manager will also closely study and document the competitive landscape to develop and share an understanding thereof with the global merchandising team. He/She will partner closely with Demand Planners to line plan, as well as manage product life cycles and inventory levels. This is a great opportunity for an experienced leader to demonstrate a unique balance of creative and analytical skills as well as strength in communication, strategic thinking and business knowledge in a dynamic, multi- branded environment.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develops Product Strategies that support the Brand initiatives and goals in the Asia Pacific Region and by customer/key account
  • Builds Assortment and Line Plans that support financial goals – both sales and gross margin
  • Monitors the integrity of assortments at point of sale and partners with sales team to realize opportunities and address issues.
  • Identifies and communicates region-specific product needs
  • Manages Product Lifecycles in conjunction with Global Merchandising Team
  • Ensures the appropriate mix of product attributes
  • Studies and communicates an understanding of the competitive landscape
  • Identifies opportunities/trends through market research and assortment analysis
  • Drives key collections thru the line plan
  • Creates critical mass
  • Travels to key markets to understand customers’ product needs
  • Presents quarterly and seasonal hindsight recaps to cross functional brand teams
  • Partners with design, Product development and brand leadership throughout the conceptual and commercialization process.
  • Works collaboratively and communicates transparently across all disciplines


Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree
  • 6+ years of experience as a merchandising manager or retail buyer
  • Strong product sensibility
  • Exceptional analytical and retail math skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel skills
  • Solid strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills - ability to communicate and build relationships and influence key partners across multiple departments & levels of the organization
  • Strong sense of teamwork and ability to multi task.
  • Must be detailed oriented, highly organized, flexible, proactive and results-oriented
