In addition the Shenzhen office is brand new; we've literally just completed the tenancy agreement so you'd be getting in right at the beginning of this new chapter in the organisation. You will be helping to develop and nurture this positive working environment for our new team members; encouraging our staff to contribute their unique skills in their unique way.

 

What we do and what you will be doing at PMD..

Our main work and income is manufacturing and supplying miniature motors and mechanisms for a wide variety of consumer and industrial products. We work closely with many factories and supplies in China, set up manufacturing and supply for component-level items. Our new office in Shenzhen allows us to have a local base, check and hold stock of components and finished goods pending our QC approvals, transport packing and logistics, and also to enable us to fully utilise China suppliers for domestic purchasing.

Establishing and managing a crucial supply office involves a significant level of administrative and management activity which needs your support; goods coming in, invoices being paid, stationery supplies, computers replacement, furniture ordering, bookkeeping expenses. This is where you come in;

As the key team member for the Shenzhen office your typical day may include:

  • Supporting the Operations Director for the set up, and general operations of the office (including interpretation / translation)
  • Working with the Hong Kong team for the accounts administration for the China office; such as bookkeeping, staff expenses, preparing cheques, forwarding invoices and petty cash
  • Recruitment and China domestic HR administration including sickness / holiday records
  • Office administration; including supplies like toner, paper and envelopes, refreshments, and general maintenance and cleaning
  • Receiving and handling incoming calls, and taking messages
  • Preparing, coordinating and monitoring inbound and outbound shipments with the ERP system
  • Administration assistance of import / export trading
  • Sorting through and preparing incoming and outgoing mail, parcels and courier packages
  • Ad-hoc help and administrative assistance for fellow colleagues where possible

You will naturally be expected to maintain upmost level of confidentiality and discretion with all information pertaining to the business, the Directors, information that you learn / obtain, colleagues and business activities in general.

 

What we're looking for..

We are looking for a methodical and light-hearted professional who has the capacity to operate independently as a reliable supporting cornerstone to the team. You will need to be familiar with practical day-to-day challenges typically faced by businesses in Shenzhen. Local knowledge, and exposure to life in China would be crucial for getting things done safely and effectively.

 

We prefer you to have:

  • Degree or diploma from an accredited institution, with min. 4 years experience in HK/China commercial setting
  • Experience and strong understanding of local China business practices and culture
  • Fluency in English and Putonghua. (Fluency in Cantonese will also be very useful)
  • Good telephone manner, and written communication skills
  • Excellent, professional interpersonal skills and a positive 'can-do' attitude
  • Hong Kong citizen/resident or other immigration status with no restrictions for work in HK or China

And here are the job details and benefits..

  • Full time, permanent, 5 day working week (Monday - Friday)
  • 9:00am ~ 6:00pm day with 1 hr lunch
  • Based in Guomao, Shenzhen office (2 mins walk from Guomao, or 15 mins walk from Luohu)
  • 18 days paid holiday, plus 11 days China statutory holidays
  • Public holidays on weekends are rolled to the following weekday. Chinese New Year, and National Day "Golden Week" extended holidays are counted against paid holidays with no weekend substitution
  • Group medical insurance benefit (applicable in HK only)
  • Flexible working hours (+/- 1 hr flexitime)
  • Monthly company-wide incentive scheme
